Cleaning & Cleansing Your Space
Creating a Calm, Uplifted Home
Now is the perfect time to turn our attention inward—starting with the space we live in every day.
Our homes hold more than just our belongings. They hold our energy, our emotions, and the rhythm of our daily lives. When our space feels calm and clear, we tend to feel the same. But when it becomes cluttered or stagnant, it can quietly affect how we think, feel, and move through the world.
This is an invitation to gently check in with your space… and with yourself.
How Does Your Space Feel?
Take a moment to stand in a room in your home and simply notice.
Does it feel open and spacious, or heavy and overwhelming? Can you breathe easily, or do you feel slightly restricted?
You might not always consciously notice it, but your body does. Feelings of tiredness, restlessness, poor sleep, or even difficulty making decisions can sometimes be linked to the energy around you.
If that resonates, it may be time for a reset—one that doesn’t need to be drastic, just intentional.
The Impact of Clutter on Energy
Clutter looks different for everyone. What feels comfortable and meaningful to one person might feel overwhelming to another.
From my experience—both personally and through years of cleaning homes—I’ve noticed that spaces filled with unused or crowded items can begin to feel heavy. Energy becomes stagnant when things aren’t moved, used, or given space to “breathe.”
Even physically, it can change how you interact with your home. You might avoid certain areas, skip cleaning around delicate or crowded spots, or feel like you can’t fully relax.
Over time, this builds—not just in your space, but in your body and mind as well.
My Experience Working in Homes
Having worked as a house cleaner for around 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of stepping into many different homes and environments. Alongside this, I also work intuitively, which means I often pick up on the subtle energy within a space.
There are times when I’ll pause mid-clean because something feels “off.” In those moments, I tune in, clear the energy, or simply allow a shift to take place.
One of the most rewarding things I hear from clients is how calm and settled their home feels after I’ve been there. And that’s not just from the physical clean—it’s the energetic shift as well.
Where to Start: Physical Before Energetic
When it comes to resetting your space, I always recommend starting with the physical.
Take stock of your surroundings:
What can be thrown away?
What can be donated?
What can be relocated or reorganised?
Begin small. Clear a surface, a corner, or a single drawer. Then build from there.
As you clean—wipe surfaces, vacuum, mop, and tidy—you’ll likely begin to feel a subtle shift already. There’s something powerful about creating order where there was once chaos.
And then… pause. Take a breath.
A Simple Energetic Cleansing Practice
Once your space feels physically lighter, you can move into an energetic cleanse.
Open a window or door to allow fresh air to flow through. Light a candle if you feel called to. Then stand quietly in the centre of the room.
With your palms facing outward, imagine a gentle stream of white light flowing down through the top of your head and out through your hands into the space around you.
You might like to silently repeat a simple intention such as:“I cleanse this space of stagnant energy.”
Visualise the old energy leaving the room, flowing out through the open windows.
Then, imagine a soft green light filling the space—bringing calm, balance, and a nurturing energy into the room.
When you feel a sense of lightness or ease, take a moment to express gratitude and gently close the practice.
Making Space for What Matters
Clearing your space isn’t about having less—it’s about creating room for what truly matters.
You may rediscover items you love, find new ways to arrange your home, or simply enjoy the feeling of having space to think, breathe, and be.
Even small shifts can have a big impact.
And let’s be real—most of us have that one room or area we tend to avoid. (I definitely do!) A space where things get placed “for later”… and then stay there. But often, that’s the very space calling out for attention the most.
No pressure—just start when you’re ready.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
If the idea of clearing and resetting your space feels overwhelming, remember—you don’t have to do it alone.
Ask a friend to join you, involve family, or reach out for professional support. Sometimes just having someone alongside you can make all the difference.
Simple Ways to Refresh Your Space
If you’re not sure where to begin, here are a few gentle starting points:
Clear visible rubbish
Let go of items you can’t repair or no longer need
Sort through piles and surfaces
Reorganise cupboards, drawers, or shelves
Open windows and invite in fresh air
Wipe down surfaces and floors
Refresh your bed with clean linen
Light a candle or use essential oils
Play music or use sound to shift the atmosphere
Bring in natural elements like plants or flowers
Use a simple mantra as you move through your space
A Fresh Start
Now is a beautiful opportunity to reset—not just physically, but energetically.
By creating a space that feels clear, calm, and supportive, you’re also creating that same energy within yourself.
Start small. Be gentle. Trust your intuition.
You already know what feels right for you.
